- Separations and detection:
Two-dimensional electrophoresis via IPG isoelectric focusing and SDS-PAGE, blotting,
various stains such as Sypro, silver, colloidal Coomassie, colloidal gold, immunostains.
- Imaging and Analysis:
Laser densitometry (Molecular Dynamics), phosphorimaging (Bio-Rad GS525),
chemiluminesence imaging (GS525 and Fuji FLA3000), laser fluorescence imaging
(Fuji FLA3000), Melanie 3, Melanie 4, Progenesis Discovery.
- Automation:
Automated picking from gels and blots with Marsh/KBiosystems
KCore, automated enzymatic in situ digests with
ProGest workstation, sample spotting to target plates
(Symbiot XVI robotic workstation
from Applied Biosystems), Multiprobe IIEX
liquid handling workstation for ZipTip (TM) clean up. Additionally
we have a Genomic Solutions ProPrep system for digests and target plate spotting as well
as a Genomics Solutions ProPic spot picker.
- Mass Spectrometry:
HPLC-Ion trap mass spectrometry (Thermofinnigan LCQ Deca and Surveyor).
MALDI-TOF/TOF mass spectrometry (Applied Biosystems 4700 Proteomics Analyzer

the box).
Mass spectrometers housed in Room 208 Olin Hall.
Automated MALDI data analysis with GPS Explorer version 3.0 running Mascot 2.1, Protein Prospector.
In house database of all six frame translations of all possible transcripts (greater than 30 residues)
from Pseudomonas syringae and from Escherichia coli. Access and licenses to the Celera
Discovery System.
4800 TOF/TOF online January 2006.
